Our Trip to Disneyland

Day 1 We landed over an hour early, but spent two hours getting our rental car. What I thought felt like a smooth trip turned messy very quickly. After getting the car, we hopped on the highway and headed to Disneyland Hotel. Seeing the signs made me feel at home. As we pulled up to the hotel I saw all of the RunDisney stuff for the races. It finally felt real. The first thing I saw as we enter the hotel was Goofy, Chip and Dale. Already characters and we haven't even checked in yet! After checking in, our room wasn't ready so we left our luggage with the bellhop and walked to Downtown Disney. I was ready for anything. I tried not to compare Disneyland to Disney World because I knew there was a size difference. I did not realize how walkable it would be. We entered Downtown Disney, grabbed some food and explored the shops. We grabbed pizza from Napolini, which was super yummy. Shortly after our room was ready. After unpacking we worked up an appetite. So we headed to our dinner reservation at Storytellers Cafe located at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa. Dinner is unfortunately the only dining experience that does not have characters. You can order from the menu or enjoy the buffet. We decided to enjoy the buffet. After dinner we headed back to hotel to prepare for our early morning. Day 2 The alarm went off around 5am. Justin and I got up, got dressed and went for a short run around Downtown Disney. We ran just over 2 miles. Then, finally got to walk down the original Main Street USA. The park that began my obsession. The butterflies went crazy in my stomach as I steps through the gates for the first time. Main Street was decorated and Christmas tree up. We had a breakfast reservation at the Plaza Inn at 8:40am. The kid inside was jumping up and down screaming in excited at being able to meet all the characters. We grabbed our food, including my Mickey shaped waffles. It's not a true Disney breakfast without a Mickey Waffle. Then I saw him standing at the table next to us, Max! One of the many characters I have yet to meet, but he will be the first of my trip. He approached the table and I jumped up before my husband or parents could even consider moving. We hugged, we posed, it was awesome! I was impressed with the Plaza Inn Character breakfast. They had so many characters walking around. So, after meeting and taking pictures with all the characters, it was time to head over to the RunDisney Expo. After the expo we returned to Disneyland, wide eyed and ready to ride every ride, meet every character and eat all the yummy food. We hopped on Snow Whites ride which broke down moments in to us getting on... We then ran over to Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, which was one of my fav's at Disney World. We rode multiple other rides including Nemo's Submarine Adventure which Justin and I got soaked in. Then we headed to our next dinner reservation at Carnation Cafe. After dinner we stepped into Main Street USA as the lights went out and snow started to fall as they lite up Sleeping Beauties Castle. It gave me the feels. Then it was time to embrace the madness of finding a spot to watch the fireworks. We found a horrible spot, the show was delayed, but Disney never fails me in making it up with fireworks. Well, then it was off to bed for a super early morning. Our first RunDisney race.
